Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about our mobile notary services, pricing, and what to expect.

General
What is a mobile notary?
A mobile notary travels to your location — home, office, hospital, or other venue — to notarize documents on-site. Instead of going to a bank or shipping store and hoping a notary is available, you schedule an appointment and we come to you.
What areas do you serve?
We serve NW Houston including Jersey Village, Cypress, Copperfield, Willowbrook, Champions, Spring Branch, Bear Creek, Bridgeland, Tomball, and surrounding communities. Most of these areas are within 20 minutes of our base, which means the lowest travel fees and fastest availability. We also serve locations farther out — use our quote tool to check your area.
Do you offer same-day appointments?
Yes, same-day appointments are often available, especially during normal business hours. For urgent needs, calling us directly is the fastest way to schedule. We can also accommodate rush appointments with as little as 2 hours notice (a rush surcharge applies).
How long does a typical appointment take?
Most standard notarization appointments take 15 to 25 minutes. Larger estate planning packages with multiple documents may take 30 to 45 minutes. Hospital and jail appointments may take longer due to facility access and coordination.
Identification & Requirements
What ID do I need for notarization?
Every signer must present a valid, unexpired, government-issued photo ID. Accepted forms include a Texas driver's license, state-issued ID card, U.S. passport, or military ID. The name on the ID must match the name on the documents being notarized.
Can you provide witnesses?
Yes. If your documents require witnesses and you don't have them available on-site, we can provide witnesses for $25 per witness. Many estate planning documents, powers of attorney, and wills require witnesses in addition to notarization — these are separate roles. Check with the attorney or party who prepared your documents to confirm whether witnesses are needed.
What documents can a notary notarize?
A Texas notary can notarize most documents that require a notarized signature, including affidavits, acknowledgments, oaths, verifications, powers of attorney, wills, trusts, deeds, contracts, medical directives, HIPAA authorizations, I-9 forms, and many others. We cannot notarize documents if the signer is not present, not willing, or unable to understand what they are signing. We also cannot provide legal advice about the contents of any document.
Does the signer have to be present?
Yes. Texas law requires the signer to be physically present before the notary at the time of signing. We cannot notarize a document that was signed in advance or by someone who is not at the appointment.
Pricing & Payment
How much does a mobile notary cost?
Most appointments cost between $40 and $120. Your total is based on the number of documents, your location, the type of service, and the time of day. Hospital notarizations start around $75, and jail appointments start around $100. Use our online quote tool for an exact price, or see the full breakdown on our pricing page.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay through our online booking system. Payment is collected when you book your appointment. For on-site scope changes (additional documents or signers at the appointment), we accept tap-to-pay at the door.
What is your cancellation policy?
Appointments cancelled with more than 2 hours notice receive a full refund. Cancellations with less than 2 hours notice or no-shows are subject to a $40 cancellation fee. If we are unable to complete the notarization due to circumstances outside our control (missing ID, signer incapacity, incomplete documents), the travel fee still applies.
Is there a minimum fee?
Yes. All mobile notary appointments are subject to a $40 minimum. This covers the cost of travel and the notary's time even for simple, single-document notarizations.
Hospital & Specialty Services
Can you notarize documents at a hospital?
Yes. We provide bedside notarization at Houston-area hospitals including Memorial Hermann, Houston Methodist, HCA Houston Healthcare, CHI St. Luke's, MD Anderson, Texas Children's, and St. Joseph Medical Center. See our hospital notary page for campus-specific details.
Can hospital staff act as document witnesses?
Generally, no. Most hospitals have policies that prevent nurses and staff from serving as witnesses on legal documents. If your documents require witnesses and you don't have someone available at the hospital, we can provide witnesses for $25 per witness.
Can a notary come to a jail or detention facility?
Yes. We handle notarizations at jails and detention facilities across the Houston area. These appointments require advance coordination with the facility — call us to discuss your situation and we'll handle the scheduling. See our jail notary page for details.
What if the patient can't sign?
The signer must be alert, willing, and able to understand the document being signed. A notary cannot determine mental competency — that is a medical or legal determination. If you have any doubt about the patient's ability to sign, consult with the care team before scheduling. If the patient cannot sign, the notarization cannot be completed, though the travel fee still applies.
